How to Pick Lingerie That Flatters Your Body Type

How to Pick Lingerie That Flatters Your Body Type

Ignore the magazines and the stick-thin models with perfect features. Lingerie is supposed to be sexy on every woman – and it can be when you know how to choose what’s right for your body type.

This Valentine’s Day, don’t be left without something sexy to wear. We’ve put together some the most popular garments so you can choose what to wear on your special night out:

Bras – Let’s start with the obvious – a bra. Nearly 80 percent of women wear the wrong size bra because they’ve never been measured and don’t know what’s the right for them. Go to the lingerie area of a department store or a specialty store and get professionally measured for a bra. A properly fitting one will make you taller and thinner.

Negligee – A negligee is great for all body types as it can accentuate the chest, while hiding any imperfections in your stomach or bottom. When choosing a negligee, go with a dark color that’s slimming and sensual.

Corset – A corset is great for small chested women who want to give their cleavage a little boost. They also work well to flatten the stomach and enhance the curve of the waist. When buying a corset, don’t be afraid to shop around and fine one that’s high quality. Buying an inexpensive probably means it won’t last much beyond the first wear.

Boy shorts or “cheekies” – Athletic women love boy shorts, as it adds curves to their figure and draws all attention to their bottom. They’re great on their own, or can be worn with a corset or garter.

Triangle bra – If you’re small chested but want a way to enhance your figure, look no further than a triangle bra. The plunging neckline gives your guy maximum exposure and details like lace and ruffles can make your chest appear up to a cup size bigger.

Patterned bras – Bras with texture and interesting patterns are another great way to enhance cleavage.

Sheer camisole – A cami can be a good way to help hide any extra midsection that you’re not ready to show. Many of these have a v-shaped neckline to show off your cleavage at the same time.

Silk robe – If you’re not so comfortable showing a lot of skin, pamper yourself with a silk robe that compliments your lingerie. The smoothness will feel great on your skin, and you can use it again to wear over your undergarments while getting ready for a night on the town.

Garter belts – These have been lingerie standard for years and are great for tall women because they further accentuate their long legs. They cut the body horizontally and help draw eyes to a woman’s curves.

Garters – Another staple when it comes to sexy lingerie, a garter usually comes with sheer stockings and sometimes even matching underwear. When you’ve decided on a color, you can always pick out a bra to match.

No matter your body size or age, the above ideas will help you find the best lingerie for your body. Keep them in mind next time you’re shopping to prepare for a romantic evening out.

Janice- the style of lingerie can definitely make all the difference. One more thing that will make a difference is using satin- light makes things look larger. Use carefully.

I loved the comment about lace enhance cleavage, that is actually mentioned in Gone With the Wind. Silly thing to remember years later.

Great tips! Love the line to “Ignore…stick-thin models with perfect features.” As a definitely far from stick-thin woman, I laughed a lot at that :) Camis and boy shorts are my go to – find they work on just about every figure and are super comfey :)

Thanks again for the great tips!
