A couple of weeks ago I blogged about the new Blu-ray and DVD release of Universal Home Entertainment’s The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall and I also shared with you how I was going to host a masquerade themed screening party to celebrate.

Unfortunately my party did not come off as planned because my whole family came down with the flu and then a head cold immediately following. I decided to make the best of the situation by having the party with just my family as we were cooped up inside anyway!

The kids loved wearing the Masquerade masks and wore them for quite some time. They had fun dancing and (trying to) sing along with the movie. My husband even enjoyed himself, which is funny because musicals are not really his cup of tea.

What’s a party without food right? I decided to incorporate some fun Phantom play on words with my food, so I made Andrew Lloyd Webber Welsh Rarebit Burgers and Music Of The Night Cake. I had thought about making Prima Donna Pasta Primavera but the hubby wanted burgers, and a sick whiny hubby always gets what he wants!

I thought The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall dvd was fantastic. I loved seeing the different cast members through the years and was delighted at hearing Sarah Brightman briefly reprise her role as Christine!

  1. It’s a toss-up for my favorite musical. I can’t decide between Phantom, Les Miz, and Miss Saigon. I imagine if I ever get the chance to see Wicked, it will be on my favorites list too :)

    Cute story:
Because of a diving accident my sister is hearing impaired. I introduced here to PotO.

A lot happens in Phantom of the Opera. Raul makes all these grand plans about he will save his one true love from the Phantom, none go according to plan.

So in the final lair scene where Christine, Raul, and Phantom are all in the dungeon knee deep in water. Raul is telling Phantom to let Christine go.

The line Chrsitine sings as Andrew Llyod Webber wrote is:

    “Please Raul, its useless”

    My precious baby sister heard:
    “Please, Raul, you’re useless.”

I just about died laughing when she told me.
