My New “Pet” Fizzgig From Think Geek

I have been a huge fan of Jim Henson for as long as I can remember. When I was little I adored Sesame Street and The Muppets. Who am I kidding, I still adore Sesame Street and the Muppets, but as I grew older I also grew to love Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal too. Pretty much anything that has the Jim Henson name attached to it I’m a fan of…except Mirrormask, which is strange because I do like Neil Gaiman  who wrote it…but I digress.

I don’t remember exactly how old I was when I first saw The Dark Crystal, but I loved every minute of that film. All the characters were simple wonderful, from the slightly frightning Skeksis, the kind and gentle Mystics, the brave Gelflings  and of course Kira’s faithful dog like pet , Fizzgig.

When I saw that one of my favorite stores, Think Geek had plush Fizzgigs, I knew I just had to have one! My sisters and I frequently “Fizzgig” each other…I know that sounds silly…but you know when your feeling frustrated or annoyed and you make kind of a growling noise…you know when people say “Grrrr” or “Arrrrg”…well we do this:

On the planet Thra, many wondrous creatures live. From the Podlings to the Landstriders to the genetically-engineered-to-kill Garthim, the diversity of life is amazing. Oh, and we can’t forget the Gelflings. And with the Gelflings (well, with one very special Gelfling) comes Fizzgig! Almost all mouth and fur, Fizzgig stole our hearts. And now we can have one of our very own, with this Dark Crystal Fizzgig Plush.

Each Dark Crystal Fizzgig Plush is loaded with fur and mouth. The mouth is held closed with hook and loop closure, and, when open, literally splits its head (or is it body?) in half.
