Have you ever noticed how violent and scary classic fairy tales are? From the wolf in the three little pigs and Little red riding hood, to the giant in Jack and the bean stalk, these tales could really spook a youngster.
My 1Story have come out with a couple of books that tell the story of a few of these classic fairy tales, but in a much gentler and non-violent way.
I had the pleasure of reviewing a copy of” Lil’ Riding Hood & Wolfie in I Love Cake!”, a sweet retelling of the classic Little Red Riding Hood.
Inside her basket, for her Grandma, is a home-baked cake that smells so good even sleeping Wolfie can sniff it. Wolfie can’t resist cake and he runs to Grandma’s house before Lil’ Riding Hood gets there. The classic tale continues on course but with a happy ending of friendship, the importance of sharing and big slices of cake.
I love that they took out the scary parts and instead stuck in a great lesson on sharing! I found that the illustrations were so cute, that my daughter couldn’t take her eyes off them! I feel so much better sharing these classics with my daughter!
Here is some additional information about My 1story books:
The initial My1story books make their debut at amazon.com this month. Each storybook introduces classic characters — now in the public domain — but in a new story twist. The loveable, never scary, illustrations are by Jaime Rodriguez, a former Walt Disney Company character artist. Makeovers transformed sinister players like the big bad wolf into a mischievous but approachable wolf cub. The giant in Jack & the Beanstalk transforms into Beanie, still a giant but a young, small, friendly one. I Love Cake and Jack and the Magic Beans are the first two books off the presses.
These wonderful books from My 1story will be available for sale at Amazon.com!
Win It: One lucky reader will win a copy of both Jack’s Beanstalks and Lil Red Riding Hood & Wolfie.
Although I did receive a copy of one of the books, I was in no other way compensated for this review. All opinions are 100% my own.
