My sons are really big fans of the game Scribblenauts for the Nintendo DS. I actually think this is a fantastic video game myself. I think it’s a wonderful game that brings out creativity in kids as well as strengthens their vocabularies!
If you have never played Scribblenauts before, ”the objective, as implied by its catchphrase “Write Anything, Solve Everything”, is to complete puzzles to collect “Starites”, helped by the player’s ability to summon any object (from a database of tens of thousands) by writing its name on the touchscreen. The game is considered by its developers to help promote emergent gameplay by challenging the player to solve its puzzles within certain limitations or through multiple solutions”.
Here is a brief synopsis about the newest game, Scibblenauts Unlimited:
Created and developed by 5TH Cell, Scribblenauts Unlimited features a huge side-scrolling open world with new, high-definition hand-drawn scenery and objects where players can help the game’s hero, Maxwell, solve robust puzzles and challenges by summoning any object they can imagine. Players can leverage the Nintendo 3DS’ Street Pass functionality to see all of the creative puzzle solutions by other players in the area. And for the first time, learn the backstory about Maxwell’s parents, his twin sister Lily, and how he got his magical notepad.
Any video game that is educational and yet can keep my boys entertained is a win-win in my book! Scribblenauts Unlimited would make a great gift for the young gamer in your life! Scribblenauts Unlimited is available on Amazon and where ever video games are sold.
