Petz Beach game cover

My daughter Katie Loves to steal her big brothers Nintendo 3DS. She doesn’t have one of her own yet and I know she plans to ask Santa for one this Christmas. My son Rowan will let her play on his, but he doesn’t really have many games that would interest her. I was thrilled to be offered the chance to review the new Petz Beach game, because I knew it would be right up Katie’s ally!

The Petz brand has been around for a while and has sold 23 million units worldwide! In fact they are also releasing another game Petz Countryside the same day they release Petz Beach! These interactive games are fantastic for Katie because she can teach her pet new tricks using a voice recognition system, bond with her pet, using a facial recognition program, fully customize her pet with new outfits, and go on exciting quests and missions! Katie loves animals and this game can keep her entertained from hours on end.

Here is some official information on the game:

Popular kids’ game is back on Nintendo 3DS just in time for the holidays. The franchise that has sold over 23 million units worldwide is back and more interactive than ever. Petz fans will embark on the ultimate adventure in Petz Beach, where players can care for a variety of dogs, complete quests to expand their village and connect with other Petz owners.
Variety of animals and adventures—something for every kid. There are more than 50 different types of animals in the game from dogs and cats, to dolphins and whales. Because the environment in game changes with the seasons, the adventure lasts all year long!
The game expands as you play. As players explore the town and meet new neighbors with their pets, the game expands and grows. Helping new friends will expand the village as the game progresses.
Learning while on the journey. Through its partnership with Encyclopaedia Britannica, Petz Beach incorporates learning along the way. As kids care for their pets and complete missions, they’ll learn facts about animals, plants and insects!

Petz Beach

My thoughts on the game are that any kiddo who likes animal, will like this game. It is perfect for my daughter who is 6, but my 12 year old son was not that interested in it. I think this game will keep Katie engaged and entertained for hours on end! My son Rowan says that there is a definite learning curve and he did have to help Katie on numerous occasions, but that it wasn’t that hard to master in the end He also could not figure out how to save the game, but will keep trying to figure it out. Katie had a ball coming up with her town name and she even named her dog after my sister’s dog, Chandler! Too cute!
