Giving Back This Halloween – #DontBeTheDarkHouse #CBias

Charity doesn’t just have to happen around the winter holidays….It can also happen at Halloween or frankly anytime of year! That’s why I was thrilled to be able to participate in a great charity campaign with Mars and Collective Bias.

My goal in this campaign was to create a fabulous charitable Halloween basket and deliver it to a local  establishment of my choice. My best Friend Kate is a Paramedic who works for the Wiscasset volunteer fire and rescue service. She informed me that they were having an auction to raise funds for the service. I thought that donating the basket for the auction would be perfect! I think everybody tends to forget our Fire and Rescue people. These wonderful folk risk their lives for us on a daily basis!

We headed to our local Walmart to build the basket. I found some Snickers mini size at a great price and also a huge package that contained 3 separate bags of fun sized M&M’s in different flavors, plain, peanut, and my favorite, peanut butter! I tried looking for the M&M’s Candy Corn White Chocolate Candies that I keep hearing people talk about, but I couldn’t find them anywhere in my Walmart…I also couldn’t find my absolute favorite candy of all time either…the Mint Three Musketeers…I actually asked for those for Christmas one year. Yum!!!

After perusing the candy aisle for a while we then decided that we needed some additional fun things to put in the basket like Halloween pencils, a paddle ball, glow in the dark bracelets, a Young Frankenstein DVD and some yucky rubber cockroaches!

I was thinking of using  just a plain basket to put all the goodies in, but Kate found a really cool cauldron instead!

We checked out and headed home to put together the basket! And then off to the auction it went! I hope The Wiscasset Fire and Rescue make a lot of money! They deserve it!

Check out my shop from start to finish here.

I hope this inspires you all to give something to your own communities!
