Parenting – It’s A Tough Gig

Parenting…..What a job huh? There is no clear job description and the job changes from day to day, sometimes from hour to hour. Some people are cut out for the job, some do ok  and their child grows up fairly well adjusted and some people are not up for it at all and they either physically or mentally bail on their family.

If kids came with a user manual, a youtube how to video, or even a dedicated call center for you to ask questions specifically on your brand, make and model of child then maybe, just maybe, parenting would be a tad easier.

Some of the things my kids say and do just leave me scratching my head. For instance how did my daughter get such a fear of bugs, that now, every little thing that moves, throws her into a hysterical panic? It’s not like I am one of those woman that loses their minds when they see a creepy crawly. Don’t get me wrong I’m not overjoyed when some random insect is around, but I don’t go all crazy. So where on Earth does she get it from?

And why is it no matter how many times you tell your children to go to the bathroom, it’s always at the most inopportune time that they have to go? My oldest son Ethan was right in the middle of performing in his schools chorus concert, when all of a sudden a pure look of terror came over his face, followed by the most insanely distracting pee pee dance and then an embarrassing run off stage. Did we tell him no more then 20 minutes before  to go to the bathroom? Of course we did…did he listen…obviously not.

Parenting is definitely an interesting, keep ya on your toes kinda job. What have your kids done lately  that has you scratching your head?

  1. So true, Our 6 year old is scared to watch movies, even scared of Dora…I mean we are not big TV watchers at all, so I know she has not been exposed to it, but now when they watch a movie at school she breaks down…The other kids in her class obviously can not relate, so it has been tough.

    Thanks for the great post!

  2. Parenting is hard because we love our children so much. When they hurt we hurt 10 times more. I always thought that all parents in the world are heroes.
